Motorcycle Repair & Service

A bike that won't start or won't run right shouldn't sit for a month waiting on a specialty shop. We bring the same root-cause diagnostics to motorcycles that we bring to every vehicle in the bay.

Signs you may need motorcycle

Bike won't start, cranks slow, or has no spark
Rough idle, bogging, or stalling — especially after sitting
Battery keeps dying or the charging system is weak
Brakes, chain, or controls don't feel right
Ran fine last fall, won't run right this spring

Motorcycle shops around Athens tend to be booked out for weeks — and a lot of general auto shops won't touch a bike at all. We will. Appalachian Auto & Diesel services and repairs street bikes and cruisers with the same engineering-based, root-cause approach we bring to every truck in the bay.

Diagnosis first, parts second

A bike that won't start or won't idle has a cause: fuel, spark, compression, or electrical. We trace it instead of throwing parts at it. That matters even more on a motorcycle than a car — margins are tighter, symptoms overlap, and a wrong guess can eat half the value of the bike. You get a straight answer about what's wrong and what it'll cost before we fix it.

The bike that sat all winter

The most common motorcycle problem we see isn't exotic — it's a bike that sat. Stale fuel varnishes carburetors and clogs injectors, batteries drain flat, and the first ride of spring never happens. We clean the fuel system, sort the battery and charging side, and get you back on the road.

Safety items, checked honestly

Brakes, tires, chain, and controls are life-and-death on two wheels. When your bike is in for anything, we look these over and tell you what actually needs attention — and what doesn't. No padded tickets, no scare tactics. That's the same way we treat every vehicle here.

We also work on ATVs and side-by-sides. Got a bike that needs looking at? Call or text (912) 601-7083.

Motorcycle — common questions

What kinds of motorcycles do you work on?

Street bikes and cruisers are the bulk of it. If you've got something unusual, call and describe it — we'll tell you straight whether it's something we can take on.

My bike sat all winter and won't start. What's it going to need?

Usually stale fuel, a gummed-up carburetor or injectors, a flat battery, or some combination. We diagnose before we quote, so you're not paying for a full service when a carb clean and a battery would do it.

Why bring a bike to an auto and diesel shop?

Because an engine is an engine. Fuel, spark, compression, and electrical don't change with the number of wheels, and our diagnostic-first approach carries straight over. And when the dedicated bike shops are booked out, we're another real option.
